FEARFUL MASSACRE.
Attcbxand, June 1. New* via Fiji records a terrible massacre at Luvu Islands. The London Missionary Society had established . a station there under a Sandwicn Islande*" named JKabu. The natives thesouthern paTt of the Island became dissatisfied with the . missionary's" demands for copra, and apostatised. Kabu preached a crusade against the heretic* ixnd arming his followers ; attacked, the defenceless people. The carnage was l a&aoat incredible. Five thousand women; and childreu were ruthlossly massacred. Atrocities were committed on the which were then pulled on to the beach) and combustible materials placed - over them, which Kabu fired with his own hands,. Kabu has since be*-n taken to Honolulu' to answer f">r his crime.
