MQUNT PEEL BOAD BOARD.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Board was held in the Road Board office, Peel Forest, on Friday, 22nd inst. PRESENT. The Hon. «iF. B. Acland. Messrs Tripp, and Heney. MINUTESj. No. 13,—Planting f>o Acres at Sherwood Downs. Michael Fitzgerald, £3OO, No. 14—Forming oa and Burke's Pass Road. Deferred

No. 15—Fencing Keserve at RamcJiff; Joseph White and Co., £27 ss. No. 16—Building Cottage at Raineliff. Lynch, £l5B 10s. No. 17—Mending Clayton's Bridle Track, Patrick Howe £49. No 18—Fencing Gravel Reserves. James Proud foot, 17s 9d per chain. No. 19—Ploughing Gravel Reserves. Michael O'Brien, 12s per acre for breakup, 6s 6d per acre for cross ploughing. No. 20—Forming Mount Peel Road. Michael Sheehan, £SO. No. 21 —Forming at Orari Gorge. Daniel Goulden, £9 15s. No. 22 —Repairing road from Rangitata Bridge to Boyd's cutting. Patrick Faull £8 9s. No. 23—Repairing the road from Boyd's Cutting to Peel Forest road, James Proudfoat, £lO- - The following correspondence was read aud considered .'— From the Public Works Office, Welling, ton, stating that the plans of the road in the Orari Gorge sent to the Provincial Public 'tiforks Office in 1875 cannot be found. _

The Clerk was. directed to reply stating that as the plans having been lost in the Government Office wpuld they direct any Surveyor now in the Government employ in the neighborhood; to pick up the Survey as the same was a considerable eTpense to the Board. From the Post Office and Telegraph Department, Wellington, in reference to the change of the. name of. the South Rangitata Station, stating thar the change was made to avoid the confusion which would result, from a township, trict and a river bearing the same title. The Clerk waa directed to acknowledge the receipt of the same, and ask how this can apply to the case of the South Rangitata . The Board would wish to be informed what is the district referred to, j and to state that at present confusion is [ wising from the action of the Government.

From the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Christchurch, in reference to the Board's application for a reserve near Fairlie Creek for planting purposes. The CLrk was directed to reply, and inform the Commissioner of Crown Lands that it is the intention of the Board to plant 30 acres within the next three years, the remaining part to be used for the

present in keepi-g teams employed for; road purposes with a view to further planting in the future. From the Ashbnrton County Council acknowledging receipt of the Board's re?* solution in reference to the Rangit.ita traffic bridge.

From the Qeraldine County Council forwarding copy oi a resolution in re--. ferenee to the alteration of the name of South Rungitat* Railway Station. '^ From Mr A. McColl, asking the" Board to improve the cutting Ijhe Rangitata Terrace, known, as Bethune's Gutting. The work was ordered to be done. From Messrs Walker and Clogstoun, asking the Board to widen the bridle ; track to Clayton. The Clerk was directed to,inforin Messrs Walker and Clogstoun that a contract has been let for the work.

From Mr Joseph Turner, requesting the Board to form the three roads leading to Section 396&Z Resolved—" That tenders be, invited for forming a road giving access to the. section," From Mr James "VVilson, requestingleave of absence from the. meeting' of the. Board, The request was granted. Mr Thomas Blair had an interview the Board, requesting to have the. road> leading over the Orari Downs. iraprcjved t Resolved—" That tenders be for the work." Resolved—" That notice &-* given tab persons allowing gorse to grow on roads, adjoining their land to have the same, grubbed up, otherwise the Bpard have the work done at the owner's expense." Resolved--* 1 That tenders be invited; for the following works,: —1. Improving Bethune's cutting. 2. Shingling Lord's road- 3t. Breaking stones and blinding road from Tripp's cutting to Sowerby's. 4. Blinding road near Mr Tripp's. 5. Cutting in Peel Forest. &. Improving., the Orari Downs. 7. Forming the road nnat Clayton's Station." ACCOUNTS..
