THE EASTER ENCAMPMENT.

We have been favored by Capt. Young, of the No. 1 Temuka Eifle Volunteers with a copy of the following circular relating to tl}e proposed encampment at Easter, to be held at Oamaru : CIRCULAR. Oamaru, March, 1881. Sib, —At the request of Lieut. Colonel Stavely it has been arranged that the Easter Review be held at. Oamaru from the evening of Thursday the 14th April to the evening of 18th April. Volunteers to camp out, tent or accommodation will be provided here. A caterer has agreed to supply first rate meals at tenpence each per man, and for Officers separately at Is 6d (including small bottle beer or porter) first rate hotel fare. It is to bo understood niatr Yoluntf-oro hi-ing ’with them rugs, blankets etc., and defray their own expenses—free railway passes will be issued. It is intended that on Saturday there shall be competitive firing by Artillery etc., march to Racecourse (distant about two miles) various military competitions and athletic sports. Evening, promenade concert. On Monday march to raeecourse, review, military evolutions, and sham fight. I shall be glad if you will inform me as early as possible what number you will bring ..down so that arrangements may be made accordingly.— I am etc., George Sumpter, Major.
