TEMUKA AND GERALDINE A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of the Temuka and Geraldine Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held on Friday evening, 18th March, 1881, at the Star Hotel. PRESENT. The following members were present— Messrs R. A. Barker (President), M. Quinn (Vice-President), D. Maclean, J. Hay hurst, K. F. Gray, F. W. Badham, and W, Wills (Secretary). MINUTES. Tire minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. MISCELLANEOUS. The matter of a communication that had been received sometime previously from the Winchester Domain Board, with reference to a claim made against the Association for an amount of rent claimed for certain lands enclosed within the fence of the grounds occupied by the Association, was next discussed. Proposed by Mr Maclean, Seconded by Mr Quinn, and carried—“ That the subcommittee told off at the last meeting of the Association for that purpose arrange with the trustees of the Winchester Domain Board for the payment of rent for excess of land (4 acres) occupied by the Association, and get from the trustees a letter indemnifying the Association from ahy further payment on account of said land ; and also that the trustees can take over the said 4 acres at any time by erecting a good and sufficient boundary fen»\ \ Proposed by Mr Maclean, Mr Quinn, and carried MrMaclean proposed, MrGray seconded, and it was carried, “That aß'am and Ewe Fair be held on the Society’s grounds on Friday, Bth April ; the rules and regulations to be the same as in former years.” Proposed by Mr Gray and seconded by Mr Quinn, “ That the Treasurer furnish at the next meeting a statement showing from last audit of accounts the exact position Of the funds of the Society.” Proposed by Mr M‘Leau and seconded by Mr Gray, “ That the next meeting be held bn the Pth April to receive the subcommittee’s report re Winchester Domain Board, and also to include the revision of rules of the Society ; notice to be given to each member of the Society the nature of the alteration contemplated.” Resolved—“ That the Secretary obtain from the tenant of the ground, in writing, whether he would—if the Society wished it —be agreeable to break through the agreement now in existence, and give up the ground for the benefit of the Association, and on what tefms.”
After some further discussion of a miscellaneous nature, the meeting terminated with the usual vote of thanks to the chair.
