LOCAL BOARD OF HEALTH.
♦__ A mooting of the above Board took place, immediately after the meeting of the Temuka Road Board on Monday last, when the following report of the Inspector of Nuisances was read : "Temuka, March 1,1881,. "John Talbot, Esq., ! " Chairman Local Board of Health, Temuka. '•' Sih, —I have the honor to report that during the past month I have been making a house to house inspection in Temuka, and beg to.state, as a rule, I found the premises clean. " The drainage in connection with the Temuka Parsonage is defective, no pro- ( vision,,having been mVd for carrying , waste water from the premises ; but I ] helieve an application will be made to the < Board for permission to lay pipes from I the Parsonage to the Vine street drain. f Should permission be granted 1 do not ' think a nuisance will ensue. . "Mr McCaskell complaining of the state rf the creek water, I made an examination of the creek from Mr Thomson's slaughter yards and boiling-down establishment to Sodtown, and found the j creek water very much discolored for a , distance of sixteen chains. The water | then passes for a considerable distance i through a mass of weeds, and on arrival i at Sodtown appears clear I cannot, i therefore say whether the water is injurious to health. c " According to your instructions, 1 ob- g tainad a quantity of chloride of and 3 have found it to fcirveFy..useful. r "I have, etc., s " George Bolton, e " Inspector of Nuisances."
