ENGLISH AND FOREIGN. i Bombay, Feb. 22. News has been received from Kolapore that the natives who were arrested on a chai'ge of plotting against the lives European residents, have been fbwid’ guilty and sentenced to various terms of imprisonment. London, Fib. 21. In the House of Commons to-day the consideration of the Irish Coercion Bill in Committee of the whole was concluded, and the Bill reported to the House. The third reading of the measure is expected to he completed without delay. Feb. 22. Dr McCabe, Roman Catholic Arch—bishop of Ireland has issued a letter, in which he stigmatises the between Parnell i.nd Rochefort as impious, and says that the Catholic party can feel no confidence in Parnell. ' Feb. 23. The Daily News to-day publishes information to the effect that the magazine at Cork had been broken into, and that a large quantity of gunpowder had been taken away. At the wool sale to-day 10,000 bales were catalogued, making a total of 02,400 bales offered since the opening. There was less demand, and prices were occasionally easier. Money and produce markets are without quotation on ’Change, The prospect of a permanent cessation of disorder in Ireland has been dispelled by reports which have now come to hand that agfarian outrages in that country are again occurring. There is apparently every prospect of a revival of the agitation. , Paris, Feb. 23. Disclosures have been made that extensive exportations ot arms have been taking place from France to Greece for some time past. The authorities have issued a prohibition against the supply of arms to that country. Capetown, Feb. 22. Telegrams have been received to-day from Natal that a convoy of provisions and arms and ammunition despatched from Newcastle has arrived ealely at Sir ! George Colley’s camp at Ingogo. |
