MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.

A meeting of the Board was held in tlie JRoaad Board Office, Peel Forest, on Monday, the 14bh iustant. Members present—The Hon. B. A. Acland (Chairman), Messrs Heney, Tripp, and Mackay.' , : MINUTES. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. TENDERS. The following tenders were considered ; No. 1 contract—Shingling near Opuha river : Timothy Sugrue, £l3O ; Frank Molloy, £105; Michael O’Brien, £97 ; Michael Kennedy, £BS ; John Casey, £7O (accepted). No. 2—Carting stones and clearing road near Mr Tripp’s : Michael Griffiji, £2B ; Michael O’Brien, £25 10s ; Frank Molloy. £l9 ; Daniel Gulden, £lB 4s ; James Proudfoot, £l4 10s (accepted). No. 3—Building cottage near Fairlie Creek : Michael O’Brien, £167 ; Thomas Scroggie, £lO9 (accepted). The following correspondence was read and considered : CORRESPONDENCE. From the Public Works Office, Wellington, enclosing copy of a letter to the Ashburton County Council in reference to the Rangitata traffic bridge. From the Chief Surveyor, stating that the Board’s application for a reserve adjoining section 24774 has been forwarded to the Commissioner of Crown Lands, for transmission to. Wellington.

From Mr J. Talbot,, consenting to the alteration of road in section. 27832. From the Geraldine County Council,, forwarding a copy of a resolution passed by the Council to the effect that the Mount Peel and Geraldine Road Boards be asked to contribute a sum of £IOOO each towards the extension of the Rangitsta traffic bridge, failing which the Council would proceed to strike a rate of 6d in the £ fox that purpose. Resolved—** That this Board make a grant of £IOOO towards the extension of the Rangitata traffic bridge, provided that the Geraldine Road Board contribute an equal amount, inasmuch as the bouudary of their district extends to the bridge as well as the Mount Peel.” From Mr J. Hay, objecting to be rated for certain, sections at Raiucliff, as no road has been, laid off to them. The clerk was directed to reply and advise Mr Hay to apply to the Chief Sur-. veyor to have a road laid off to the land. From Messrs Green atndv Scrint asking that a part of the boundary road be formed.. Resolved—“ That'tenders be called forthe work.” From Mr ThomaS Blair, calling the attention of the Board to damage done to the road over Orari Downs by storm water, and requesting that the- grades on the road be eased. The Overseer yras dhflt vl to. report on the road at the next racing. HARBOR BOARD REPRESENTATIVE. Theelection of a representative for the Timaru Harbor Board was proceeded with, when it was proposed by Mr Heney, seconded by Mr Tripp, and carried —“ That Richard A. Barker be re-elected ” The Clerk was directed to write to the Chief Surveyor, asking if Mr Smith’s survey! in the neighborhood, of ■ Peel- Forest i has been plotted up on the Government
