SINGULAR TRAITS OF A ST. BERNARD DOG.
The New Haven (Conn.) Palladium .-says : The only genuine specimen of the St. Bernard dog to be found in this city belongs to a lady on Hill—house avenue, ~>nd has all the propensities of his freed t "Sior wandering from home. Two or .three yeais ago he voluntarily attached himself to U. I. Cummings, and excepting in cold weather, is frequently t« .be seen lying on the sidewalk on Chuich street in front of Mr Cummings s store. He never goes home unless sent for. although weeks may elapse, and then refuses to go unless sent " for by the master he has chosen. He is remarkably honest, and although very fond of crackers, will leave one untouched if it is placed on the floor and he is told that it cost money. If the fact that it is paid for and he may have it is subsequently added, the cracker disappears in an instant and he is on the watch for a repetition of the performance.
