Mr, Brogden, the member for Wed nes bury, has gone for something like a holiday. Ho is gone across to York, and proceeds thence to San Fnmeisco, from which city he starts immediately for New Zealand. In the land of tho Maoris he will have what is almost a diplomatic difficulty to settle. There ; s a claim against the colony for no iess a sum than L 200,000, uue for certain railways—or at least said to be due, for the colonial Government declares that it does not owe a single penny. Mr. Brogden lias gone to persuade the authorities' that they are deeply in debt. If, therefore, he succeeds in his mission he will do something more than pay his travelling expenses.
