TEMUKA ROAD BOARD.

A special meeting of the Board was held on Wednesday 'ast. PRK3KNT. Messrs Talbot, Ensor, Paterson and Empson. The Clerk took the chair pro tern. NKW MEMBERS. A letter was received from the Returning Officer stating that Messrs Ensor, Paterson, and Empson had l>een duly elected members of the B,ourd. ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN. Upon the motion of Mr seconded by Mr Paterson, Mr Talbot was again, elected Chairman of the Board for the ensuing year. APPOINTMBNT OF OFFICBBB. Upo.i Mr Talbot taking the chair, it was resolved that the officers (mould be reappointed for the year, namely, Mr W.

and Inspector of Nuisances, on the same term* us regards salary as last year ; subject to one month's notice on either side to terminate the engagement, and etch to sign nn agreement to that effect. Resolved—" That the Clerk write and ask the Garaldinu ltoad Board if the land where the new bridge has been erected near Sharp's has been dedicated to the Board." IEMUKA SCHOOL. Mr A. Wilson,Chairman of theTetuuka School Committee, interviewed the Board, to ask, for economy's sake, that the School Committee's janitor be allowed to keep the school closetß cleaD, ingtead of having to pay the man now in the employ of the Board for the work. The Board decided to defer the consideiation of the nutter till tho next ordi nary meeting. VALUATION BOLL. The Clerk placed the new Valuation Roll on the table. Mr Paterson proposed, Mr Ensor seconded, and it was carried —'• That the same be accepted, and an advertisement inserted in the Timaru Her dd and Leader to the effect that Roll is now open for .the inspection oi the Ratepayers, in accordance with the Act." THK RAILWAY TARIFF. A letter was read from the Ashburton County Council in re railway tariff, and it was resolved —" That ihe thanks of this Board be coimyed to the Tariff, Committee of the A&hburton County Council for their efforts to obtain fair play and justice for their agricultural and pastoral interests, which are injuriously affected by the rsilway tariff, and for their vet)' able statements and ta! leu adduced in support ot their con-oenti'-n."
