ENGLISH AND FOREIGN. London, Dec. 30. New Zealand securities remain at last quotations. The markets for Australian and New Zealand produce are unchanged. Dec. 31. Owing to the excitement which is pre vailing in Dublin in consequence of the trial of the Land Leaguers, extra military preparations are being made in the city for the preservation of order. Very heavy snowstorms have fallen in England during the past few days, and in many districts serious floods have resulted on the breaking up of the frost. Considerable loss of property has occurred, and owing to the extreme cold much distress has been experienced by the poorer classes. Jan. 1. The revenue returns for the December quarter show a million increase. Land meetings which were to be held in Ireland on Saturday and Sunday have been prohibited. Flying,, columns are traversing the country to prevent attempt that may be made at night drilling. Latest intelligence to hand from the Cape states that the Boers have abandoned Utrecht, The garrison at Standestun and Walkersbroom are strongly entrenched and well supplied. Large bodies of troops are marching to the front. | Fijian chiefs are making a request the town of Koloraaba, in the group : |e annexed to Fiji.
