SAD SHOOTING ACCIDENT.
Dunedin, To-day. An accident;' happened ~pn Saturday ev ning, which resulted in the death of Alfred Kislingbury, aged 13. He, with his brother and a. nuift bei 1 of companions, went out shooting skylarks and labbits. They had two guns with them, —one a single and the a double barrelled,. John Kislingbury, was carrying , the double-barrelled gun, ;and when; vin \\°pe of Mr R. B. Lartins paddocks, he was hi the act of placing the-right hand hammer on the nipple, .when the left barrell exploded, and the contents lodged jn Alfreds side, causing death in a few* minutes. Alfred cried.out “ Oh, Jack, Jack, you,have .shot me.” John said—- “ Alt, are you dead ?” and ,Alf replied “ Not quite.” Deceased’s brother then, called ou the other boys to help him:, .but they all ran away except two, with whose assistance the wounded lad was carried to Mr. Martin’s house, where he expited almost immediately. At the inquest to-day the Jury added a rider, suggesting the institution of a gun license throughout .the colony, and returned ,a verdict ,of “Accidental Death-;”
