The Promoters of this Association wish to bring, before the Public of Canterbury the great gains to be derived by establishing in their midst a Company, to be worked purely on Co-operative principles, having certain objects for the furtherance of Farming interests, and offering a great financial saving to each individual member of the Public who may become Shareholder. The Promoters, also, have great confidence in bringing this- Association before the Public, as similar Cooperative Institu tiomhave been most successful in all parts of the wrl-d. Amongst the most important, objects of the Association are the following * — To procure for its Members greater facilities- than at present exist,- for the shipping of their produce to the consuming markets of the world. This Ihe Association will do by exporting the produce for its i Shareholders at the lowest rates in chartered ships, allowing Shareholders advances on the produce so- shipped 1 Or deposited -With the Company for shipnienfi Of sale at) the lowest rates. This the Pro molers think- will be oi the greasiest ad van tage as ; the" rates usually charged iu Can' terbury are excessively high. The Share holders of the Association will therefore be in' a position to ship their prodiice for sale to the best markets, instead, as has been so often the case, especially last season,- ot being forced to sell in this country at most ruinous prices, and far . below-’the value in other markets. Alsogreat benefit will be found in that the Association will procure Cornsacks, Woolpacks;, Agricultural Implements, Seeds, and all articles of- consumption-, at the lowest cost, that are useful to its Shave- j. holders. By these means great saving ; will be effected, as the difference .between ithe price of- ali articles in New Zealand I ; and in the places of their manufacture, ■whether of husbandry or of general consumption, is far gi’eatcr than many individual purchasers are of. ■ The Association 1 will undertakea/nybiun 1 - ; ness-and mak-eraU-arrangements that may be neCtssary with other firms for the furtherance and-better carrying cut of itS; objects. The Directors- are eiirovvered by the Articles of Association to make advances' to its Shareholders on properties or other securities as they may think ik. The benefits derivable from' file' Association- will be strictly confined to its Shareholders, The profits of the Associa-tion,-after paying interest at. the rate Of seven per cent per annum on paid-up Capital, will be- divided amongst all the Shareholders pro rata .according to the, amount ofbusiness done by each shareholder. ; A meeting of the Provisional Directorswill be- held at the Grosvetior Hotel, Tira«ru, on' Saturday, November 27th, when the shares then applied for will be alloted, and the dale foi the general nice -,! ing of Shareholders-fixed for the appoiht- ' xbent of Directors and (he settlement 1 Of the ArticleS Of Association.Forms of- application for shares arid' any information may be had at the Offices of the National Bank, Timarn, and its branches, any cf the Directors, Mr Roger Kltt, of Waimnte and Mr Corbett, of Geraldine l Intending applicants can persue the 1 proposed 1 ,Articles of Memorandum of Association at either the National Banld Offices, Timaru • or at the Offices of A-..
