Messrs Logan and Brown, J.P.’s, attended at the Gaol on Saturday afternoon to hear a cli.ivge against, John Smith, alias Thomas Hardie, of having on the -18th inst. escaped frpnriega* confinement before tlie expiration of the term for whidh he had been committed .

On being asked to plead, the Prisoner pointed out that it was not stated in the information for what time he had been'committed to Gaol.
