Secretary, pro tem : |uhn Bradshaw, Esq. The Promoters of this Association wish to bring before the Public of Canterbury the great gains to be derived by establishing in thieir midst a Company, to be worked pufely on Co-operative principles, having certain objects for the furtherance of Farming interests, and offering a great financial saving to each individual member of the Public who may become Shareholder. | The Promo'ers, also, have great confidence in banging this Association before the Publicans similar Cooperative Institu tions have b.en most successful in all parts of the world. Amongst the most important objects of the Association are the following ; To procure for its Members greater facilities thin at present exist, for the shipping of their produce to the consuming markets of the world. This tlie Association will do by exporting the produce for its Shareholders'; at the lowest rates in charteied ships, allowing Shareholders advances on the produce so shipped or de posited with the Company for shipment or sale at the lowest rates. This the Pro moters think will be of the greasiest advan tage as the rates usually charged iu Can terbury are excessively high. The Share holders of the Association will therefore be in a position to ship their produce for sale to the best markets, instead, as has been so often the case, especially last season, ot being forced to sell in this country at most ruinous prices, and far below the value in other markets. Also great benefit will be found in that the Association will procure Cornsacks, Woolpacks, Agricultural Implements, Seeds, and all articles of consumption, at the lowest .cost, that are useful to its Shareholders. By these means great saving will be effeoled, as the difference between the price of all articles in New Zealand and in the places of their manufacture, whether of husbandry or of general consumption, is far greater than many individual purchasers are aware of. The Association will undertake any business and make all arrangements that may be necessary with other firms for the furtherance and better carrying out of its objects. The Directors are empowered by the Articles of Association to make advances to its Shareholders on properties or other securities as they may think fit. The benefits derivable from the Association will be strictly confined to i s Shareholders. The profits cf the Association, after paying interest at the rate of seven per cent per annum on paid-up capital, will be divided amongst all the Shareholders pro rata according to the amount of business done by each shareholder. A meeting of the Provisional; Directors will be held at the Grosvenor Hotel, Timaru, on Saturday, November 27th, when the shares then applied for will be alloted, and the dale for the general mee - ing of Shareholders fixed for the appointment of Directors and the settlement of the Articles of Association. Forms of application for shares and any information may be had at the Offices of\he National Bank, Timaru, and its branches, any cf the Directors, Mr Roger Kitt, of Waimate ; and Mr Corbett, of Geraldine Intending applicants? can persue the proposed Articles of Memorandum of Association at either the National Bank Offices, Timaru ; or at the Offices of A.. St. Hamersiey, Solicitor, Cheat North Roadj Timaru. JOHN BUCKLE, Esq., will, before the meet’ng to be held on the 27th November, 1880, visit the towns and d.stricts of South Canterbury rb receive applica tions for Shares, and to give any infonna tion that may be required as to the objects, &c., of the Association.
