Melbourne, Oct. 15. ' The following additional acceptances for the Cup are announced :—Matea (?Rita), First Water, Rivalry, Rothschild , and Totalisator. The total final acceptances number 37. The conversazione at the Exhibition last night was a complete success, 13,000 persons being p r esent. The building was illuminated by electric lights. Many Courts, including the New Zealand, were closed. The question of opening the Exhibition at night is being much discussed. Sir Herbert Sandford British Commissioner, has protested against it being done. Oct. 16*. A grand demonstration of Trade and Friendly societies will take place at an early date at the Exhibition. The Strauss Band performed at the Exhibition yesterday, and attracted a large audience. The attendance during the day was lo,oo». Oct. 17. Arrived—Orient Company's steamer Orient, from England. Lieut.-General Su John Henry Lefroy is a passenger. Sydney, Oct. 15. New Zealand jats, per 401bs, Is lOd to 2s 2d ; maize, per 601b5,2s Id to 2s 3d. Adelaide, Oct. 15. Wheat per bushel, 4s 6d. The tone of the wheat market is very strong. Town flour, LlO 5s to LlO 10s ; country L 9 5s to L 9 10s. Freight to London —steamers, 60s ; by sailing vessels', 35s to 37s 6d. Freights to United Kingdom from Adelaide, 40s ; from other ports, 42s 6d. The tone of freights is firm.
