Leader Office, October 18,1880 Mr K. F. Gray reports for the fortnight ... ending Saturday last as follows : Cattle.—There is an active demand for both stores and fat cattle,.and several lots have been placed both privately and by auction at satisfactory prices. His transactions are 4 yearlings at 37s 6d ; 9 cows, in full profit and springing, at from £4 17s 6d to £8 5s ; 3 heifers at from £4 10s to £5. He also sold privately 79 head steers at £5. Sheep.—He sold at Winchsster Fair 15 Merino ewes and lambs, at 7« Id and 12 cross-breda at 13s 6d. Produce, &o.—Flour was sold at £ll per ton ; bran, 50s per ton ; potatoes, £2 per ton ; fresh butter, splendid quality, at 6d per lb ; eggs, at f d per doz ; fowls, 3s to 3s 6d per pair ; ducks, 3s 6d; turkeys, 4s each.
