MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Board wag held in the Road Bjard Office, Peel Forest, on Fridav, 17th inst. PRESENT. Hon J. B Acland (chairman), Messrs Tripp, Heney, and Mackay. MINUTES. The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed. TENDEItS. The following tenders were opened and considered : No. 33 Contract—Forming from Middle Valley to Cattle Valley. N. P. Br.icetield, £289 ; metal 4s 8d per yard, day 9.1 (accepted). No 34. Forming from Middle Vallev to Spur Road. Dennis McCarthy, £lB3 ; rock metal 3s peryard, clay !)d (accepted^ No 35. Metalling T .lbot's Road. NeillePetersen, £llß (accepted). No 36. Shingling near Allandale. Timothy Sugrue, £IOO (accepted). No 37. Shingling from Allandale to Fairl e Creek. Patrick Burke, £135 (accepted). No 38. Forming and Shingling near Scotsburn. Alexander O Ned, £B6 14s 61 (accepted).

No 39. Bridle Track to Forest Creek. Edward Murphy, £29 18s (accepted). No4o. Shingling Griffin's load. William Horsf .11, £l9 18s (accepted). No 41. Forming and Shingling; "Boundary Road. William Wood, £4O (accepted). No 42. Forming Spur Road, Raincliff. Webb and Harris, £l7O (accepted).

CORRESPONDENCE. The fol owing correspondence was read and considered :—.

From the Cnief Surveyor in reference to the alteration of gravel reserve in section 32,539, stating that the at ration would be made, and requtsting the consent of the owner to the alteration. The was directed tj forward the owner's consent. From the Union Bank of Australia advising the receipt of £l7O 16s 7d liom the Paymaster Geaeral.

From the Commissioner of Crown L ind-s in reference to reserves 2169 and 2167. From Mr James Watkins in reference to (In Gtraldine County Council proposal of placing a toll on the Ra gitata traffic bridge. The Clerk was directed to reply, and state that the question of erecting a tollgate on the JR.ingituia .Bridge does not come within the province of the Mount Peel Board.

From William Cully declining to carry out contract No 17 and asking to have his deposit returned. Resolved feited.''

From Messrs Harper, Harper and Seo.t forwarding copy of Mr J. L. Wilson's agreement for breaking metal. From Messrs Morriso.i and Duiilop quoting price of grass seeds.

The Clerk was directed to write to the Ashburtou Council asking what steps are being taken towards the repair of the Raagitata traffic bridge. The spring is advancing, and en long freshes may be expected in the river, and it is most desirable that iu order to enable stock to cross with safety permanent repairs should be effected as soon as possible.

MISCELLANEOUS. Proposed by Mr Henoy, seconded by Mr Mackay, and curried—" That the Geraldiue County Council be requested to direct, under the provisions of the 82, 83 and 84 clauses of the " Public Works Vet' 1876," which of the tvo Road D stricts, Mount Peel or Geraldine shall have the control of the boundary road between the Kangitata traffic bridge and se<tiou 3022 on the Waihi Downs, and forward the Council a plan showing the road referred to, and state that thd Mount Peel Board are willing to accept the contro , the road being nearer to their offices, and therefore more easily attended. And that a < opy of the above resolution be sent to the Geral dine Road Board."

Tlie Board agreed with Mr Charles Pye for him to act as assistant overseer for three months.

Complaints having been marie to the Bo.ird of damage done *o sheep by contractors'dogs. It was resolve I —" Tint notice be given f o contractors that no dogs will be al owed to be kept in their camps while c irrying out any contract under the Board.", Resolved—" That tenders b-; invited for the following works":—l. S ungling Home Bush Road, Rail,cliff; 2 Widening and Shingling at fecutsinir-i ; 3. Forming the M-iunt Michael Vall-y Road A!lendale ; 4 Forming on Upper Rangiiati Road ; 5. hepa ring C.itiie Vailey itoud. Tlie Overse r was directed to have g <tes hung on the reserves planted and the femes rep ur-d as sooj as possible.
