ENGLISH AND FOREIGN.
London, Sept. 15. The match between the Australians and Eleven Gentlemen players of Scotland, at Edinburgh, was commenced to-day. The Home team went in first to the wickets, and were all disposed of for 143 runs.
Sept. 16. The mail via Biindisi, which left Melbourne on August 16th, was delivered here to-day.
Scotch pig-iron in London is 52s per ton.

The wool sales to-day showed firm and active demand for nearly all classes offered.
The wheat market is firm. Adelaide ex warehouse 45s ; New Zealand wheat, ex ship, 42s ; Adelaide flour, ex warehouse, 335. The total quantity of wheat afloat for Great Britain is 1,430,000 quarters. Tallow is quiet. Best An tralian beef, S2s 6d ; best mutton, 35s 6d. No. 1 Scotch pig iron, free on boarl in Clyde, 53s 6d.
At the wool sales to-day 7500 bales were offered, and a firm and active demand continues.
The cricket match at Edinburgh, Australians v. Eleven Gentlemen of Scotland was resumed to-dsy. The Australians went in for their first innings, and were disposed of for 142 runs. The Home tenrn then went to the wickets for their second innings, and when the stumps were drawn for the day had scored 106 lor the loss of five wickets.
