An animated discussion took place in the Assembly regarding an article in the Argus on the new members' elections, and on the qualifications of the Committee. Mr Fineham protested against the article, which he said was a breach of privilege. Mr Berry atked the House to decide whether it should take action to serve ns a warning to the Argus for all time. Mr Service defended the Aryus, and tho motion which was before tha House was eventually withdrawn. The race m eting in honor of Sir H. Robinson, is postponed until Monday. In the Assembly last n'ght a Bill to legalise the use of the totalisator was read a second time. Sept. 15. New Zealand oats, feeding sorts, 2s to .2s 4d. In the Legislative Assembly la>t night a Bill authorising the issue of Treasury bonds to the amount of L 500.000 was read a secmd time. It is estimated there will be a deficiency of L 200,000 in October. Professor Proctor goes to New Zealand on the 20th inst. Sydney Sept. 15. Sailed—Rotomahana, for Auckland. Sept. 15. Government has given notice to the Banks of its intention to withdraw L200,n00. All the Protestant Churches in Sydney have expressed their approval of Sir Henry Parkes' action in regard to Pro- i fessor Proctor's proposed Sunday j lectures. It has transpired that Sir j Henry Parkes acted in defiance of the | Attorney-General's opinion that the lectures could not be lawfully interfered with.

Parliament has been further prorogued till October 26th.
