Another frightful railway accident, in this case at, Papakura, has occurred to a bushmau named Dave Livingstone. He reached the" station too late for the 6.30 train, which -was in motion, and in trying to get on the carriage slipped, the train going over both legs, and passing on without any of the officials knowing of the accident. On recovering conscious* ness his cries attracted the stationmaSter. Dr Dalize was summoned and the man was brought to the Auckland Hospital, where Dr Philson amputated both legs below the knee.' A telegram from Pungarehu to-day, states that four more natives were run in this morning, which mates ten being sent to New Plymouth. The " Taranaki Herald " hears that the Surveyor-General has telegraphed to the Chief Surveyor, requesting him to meet him on the Waimafce Plains, so that they may go over the land together, to make arrangements for surveying.
