Melbourne, July 27

Government has accepted the tender of the Phoenix Company, of Ballarat, for the construction of twenty railway locomotives, at a cost of £59,490. Mr Higginbotham took his seat on the Bench for the first time yesterday as Judge of the Supreme Court. In the Legislative Assembly, after the delivery of the Governor’s speech, a vote of want of confidence in the present Ministry was taken without discussion, the result being 48 for, and 35 against the Ministry.
