It now transpires that the elder Reilly, i\w leader of the Harrow gang ot bushrangers, had a grudge against Mr Hearne, the Magistrate, and this is supposed to be the cause of the bailing up. It is believed that Reilly is insane.
The Victorian Government is cooperating with that of New South Wales for the purpose of adopting preventive measures in regard'to'Chinese immigration.
Sydney, July 13
Arrived—Arawata, from Auckland. Parliament was prorogued to-day. The Governor made a lengthy speech on the occasion, but the failure of Government to carry the proposed new taxes was only briefly ioned.
