TEMUKA MECHANIC’S INSTITUTE.
The usual monthly committee meeting took place at the Institute on Friday last, the 9th inst. Present —Dr Hayes (President), Messrs Mendelson, Gray, Mason,. E.Uott, Gentleman, Franks, and Leo The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed
An account for rates for 15s was passed furpayment The sum of £-1 14s was received from the librarian for subscriptions for the month
The librarian reported the loss of one of the books (East Lynne), and Mr Mason un-
dertook to pay for another copy, as the book stood against his name
Proposed by Mr Franks, and seconded by Mr Elliott —'“ That the English Mechanic be procured for the Institute. Resolved that it be procured on condition that Mr Elliott takes it from the Institute at half-price. It was resolved to discontinue Public Opinion, and substitute Land Water jfqr the Field ’
The sub-committee appointed to select new ■juoks for the Library Reported that the list be! ready for the next outgoing mail.
Resolved that the books of reference,-now in the library, bo placed in the reading-room for the benefit of members
The meeting then adjourned
