Thomas McManus, of Twelfth street* and wife were invited over to widow O’Hagan’a to a “coffee,” and the invita-. tion was hardly cold when the neighbour hood on the other side requested thei presence to a "beer”, to be given the same night Thomas voted to attend the r latler, while his wife was in favour of the ' former, and while they were arguing the cases the coos stove was upset, two chairs, broken, and Thomas appeared in the street trying to outrun a woman with a mophandle in iter clutches. The police gathered the husband in, and as lie walked before the desk he began ; “ I had an invitation to attend a ‘ coffee, then a ‘ beer,’ and now I suppose I’m invited to a free ride to,the jngl” *• Thomas, you are first -class on the suppose,” replied the court ** Have you tivo dollars, about you 1 ’ “Niver a foive, your Honor” “Then 111 make it thirty days” “ 1 thought you would !
