The Orange anniversary was celebrated a service at the Choral hall. The Rev. Mr Taylor presided, and addresses 'were given by the Revs. James Long and Dewsbury. Tiie hall was nearly tilled.-'; : Father Connolly, who died yesterday; was buried to-day. There was a very large attendance at the funeral! Re arrived from Giother, Ireland, a few months ago, in consumption, and was seeking a change of climate. Napier, July 10. Richard Hollis was charged on remand with setting fire to his house at Tarad.de, but Major Scully intimating that he did not intend to offer any evidence, he was discharged. The reason of the withdrawal of the prosecution is because the inquest of the fire did not resu't in any evidence connecting the prisoner wilh the fire. The jury returned a verdict of incendiarism by some one unknown.
A company of gentlemen lias been formed to work some of the Mohaka quartz reefs. No shares are offered to the public. A parcel of stone taken from the reef, with every precaution against salting was crushed, and gave at the rate of three and four ounces, though no gold was visible. A tunnel will be put in, and if a good reef be struck some shares will be offered to the public. Wellington, July 11.
