A TERRIBLE DEATH.
♦ Blenheim, May 13. Particulars are to hand of a death by burning at Queen Charlotte’s Sound. On Sunday Mr Isaac Landell, a settler near Tory Channel, left ..nme, accompanied by Ids two daughters. They proceeded in a boat to Oyster Bay, win re they landed, and were then joined by a young fellow named Flood. After a while the party commenced setting fire to the scrub, the two girls being a short distance from Landcll and Flood. After u short time the father called to the girls to come where'he was, as the wind was blowing very strong, and the scrub was burning fiercely. In response to the summons, the eldest daughter only came, but the, other was caught in the flam. s before she c oni effect her escape, and was binned to deatn. The father and Flood, seeing the danger the girl was in, rushed to her assistance, but when they reached her she was quite dead the flesh being blackened and hard.
