GERALDINE COUNTY COUNCIL.
Yesterday the above Council held its monthly meeting for the despatch of public business,; Present —The Chairman and six members. Minutes of tho last meeting being road and confirmed, correspondence' was read from Col Secretary,.in re appointing Road-Board offices for lodging objections, and other business From Inspector of Slaughterhouses re certain slaughterhouses being in an unclean state.. From a number of persons,applying for slaughterhouse licenses. From various Road Boards, declining (with the exception of Geraldine) to allow their clerks to become collectors of the dog taxes. Resolved that the names of those gen tlemen, who have applied for same from different Ridings, be forwarded to the Governor for his approval. Resolved that Mr Healy be authorised to deal with the Timaru Municipal Council re taxes already collected by tl e Council’s officers. : Resolved that the license be withheld! from Mr J\ hnson for a slaughterhouse near Timaru, for not keeping it in proper order Fresh,appliestions for licenses were all approved of and granted. Consideration of the engagement with the Inspector, who had been-appointed by the Licensing Commissions,be considered, it was resolved to offer Mr Durham the sum of HOO per annum, 20s from each L 5 license, and IQs from each L2 lice nse be the salary, offered., Accepted, and to commence,-from. Ist jjwx- last, and for the four months past he.be paid Ll 6 13s 6d, gash, and fees received from former licenses; that persons licensed can only use those licenses for their own trade purposes and that other butchers must take out a license and not use the yards of those licensed. From Ashton ton re Rangitata Bridge. Held over. Resolved that a copy of the regulations be sent to every license-holder. Several small accounts were passed for payment, others being bold over, after which the meeti- g adjourned (ill Ist June The motion placed on tho notice paper by Mr Cluleu, for another member for the Mount Cook Riding, lapsed.
