TRADGIC JEALOUSY.
I The People of Reading Pa., U.S.A. have been horified hv the enactment of a terrible tradgody here last night, the result of jealousy. It occurred at the residence of Mrs Shocks ell, who keeps a boardinghouse Moss-street, and she was one of the victims The other was” one—of her boarders ; the details which are bore given are simply astounding, when the ages, and standing of the actors engaged in it are tak *n into considevaation. Mrs Shock.-ell is a widow, and among her boarders L an elderly gentleman named Pi ter Nagle, who, it appears, was in love with the widow, and one night was extremely Jealous when she entertained another gentleman alone in the parlor. Nagle came home and went into the back sitting room. Instead of going to his room and retiring, as usual he remained down stairs and laid on the lounge until the.widow and her friend parted company. ‘ When this occurred Mrs Sbocksell closed the front of the house and came back to fhe sitting room, where she was confronted by Nagle, who accused her of infedility and exclaimed. If you won’t have me nobody else shall have you.” He then pulled out a hatchet, which he had concealed under his coat, and struck Mrs Sbocksell on the hea-.i knocking her senseless on the floor. Her skull was fractured, and she is: in 3 dying condition this morning. Immediately after Nagle had struck her, sen yi a butcher’s knife, drew it acres;; h'3 throat, and fell at the feet of his viCi—’n. He said he wanted to die, and he tried to get bold of another - knife. Weak from loss of blood he failed, and succumbel. He was about 5o years of are, and the widow about 33 - Both have died since.
