J. A. Oiillen, Jamos Leahey, and W. J. Wheeler to be cadets in tho Survey Dei artment. James Galbraith to be honorary Assist-ant-Secivtary of the Invercargill Rifles. The services of the Haw era Rifles have beon accepted. The following corps have been disbanded :■—Noa 1 and 2 company, Hawera Rifla Volunteers, at their own request; High School Dunediu Rifla Cadet Vuluntccrs* Tho Gazette states that the duration of tho existing treaties of commerce and navigation with France are prolonged. A letter from the Consulate-General of Chili states :—" Fiom official newspapers of Santiago de Chilio, to hand by the last mail, tho porta on tho coast of Peru up to the 19th degree of southern latitude, are in the possession of the forces of the Republic of Chilie, and 1 have reason to believe that tho Peruvian coast to the north of that parallel is actually blockaded by tho Chilian fleet."
