AUCKLAND RACES. Auckland, April 15. Morning gallops at Kllerslie. —Mr Smith’s two were out at daybreak, questionable proceeding at this time of the year, considering how cold the morning’s are. Merlin moves in her old form, but hardly looked up to the work. The Tim Windier colt has grown a good deal, hut he looks light and bad in his coat. Woolbroker is a fine colt and moves well, but it is feared he is touched in his wind. Barm did a good gallop and looks a wiry customer, but gives the idea of not being a fast horse from his way of going. Laertes had ban-
dages on both fore legs and looks light, though lie is full of life. Soukar did good work and goes strong and well, and is greatly improved since his appearance here last autumn. Juno was also out. Stella did a good gallop, and will, with time, make a useful mare. The filly belonging to Mr Percival has not the right way of going, and may hi passed over. Harry Mount did a good gallop, and never looked better. Ha ought to give a good account of him self over hurdles. Ariel was out, but did not loo: at a 1! himself. Harkaway a light chesnufe, did a good gallop, and is intended for the hurdles. Grey Momus and Loch Lomond did steady work. The former looked bigger and better than he did at the Summer meeting. Loch Lomond moved very short behind, and did not look as well as he might do. Eversley and Harkaway were not out. The former has been a good dtal knocked about by the trip and it is more than doubtfull if he will appear at the meeting. Malvern and Kenilworth are both looking and going well, and should render good accounts of themselves at the meeting, especially the latter.
WANGANUI STEEPLECHASE. Wanganui, April 15. The next Steeplechase meeting is fixed for June 19th. The programme consists of a Handicap Steeplechase of 175 sovs ; Maiden Steeplechase of 75 soys ; Weight for Age Steeplechase of 50 sovs ; and a consolation of 80 boys. Nominations for Handicap dose on May 15th. It is proposed to give Freeman Jackson, the hon. secretary of the Club, a testimonial in recognition of his services in raising Wanganui to th front rank among the racing meetings of the colony.
