A “LOAFING” VOLUNTEER.
On all hands (pays tho North Otago Tim. s) it has been admitted that a number of volunteers attending tho Christchurch Review behaved in a most unbecoming manner. In most cases punishment did not follow their acta ot _ incivility or larceny, although a day ot reckoning will shortly arrive. Iu one , instance, however, the perpetrator jn ft , potty larceny did not escape One of the Southern Volunteers, on the V train reaching a small town somewhere ■ between Oamaru and espied a number of loaves _jj laid out on a stall lb sale. His hunger ; and cupidity increased at the sight, and | he reached for the broad, but wituoufc /t any intention of passing over its equivalent in value. The owner of the loaves immediately laid hold of tha Volunteer. who left his coat tail in “the wronged M yne’s hand.
