COMMERCIAL INTELLIGENCE.
Temuka Lb a per Office, i’riday eveninig A. we eh of excellent weather has passeo .ano V, itli it mav be raid the end of an sibitnd,'a .t harvest, for, altiiougli a portion siih lies . nstacked, and some late oats nnreaped, yet She greater proportion is well and safely harV >stecl. Threshing machines are at work every wo ere, The yield turning out beyond all expectation. r J he highest we have yet heard of is 7CI- bushels of oats to the acie by Mr Myers. Mr .fa?; J’.iterson’s crop of wheat near Winchester is Undoubtedly the richest and best in the dis- ! i ict, notwithstanding that the high winds shook out from fire to six bushels to the acre, ii will not come far short of 50 bushels to i !>c acre over a field of 200 acres. The prices of oats and barley have not im- ! roved, but wheat has hardened a little, and good samples now command 3s fid, delivered ut the.station, A good proof that wheat is considered good value for the money is to be found in the fact that several of our leading merchants adver--li. c freely as buyers, a thing we have noticed, which only takes place when this cereal is sure to continue high in price at Home. This is .■worth noting by sellers of this gr.dn. As proof .of our statement last week, that Doneelm would be a market for fat stock this year, t rough the scarcity of keep, and the un-m-ually dry summer in Southland, we may in.te that over 90 fat bullocks passed through -by train a few days ago for that market.
