.•'. The monihy Committee meeting of the -.above .was.held'hi the reading room ou Friday last. Present—Dr Hayes (Chairman), Messrs Mendelson, McKay, Storey, Elliott, and Gentleman.
An account from Messrs Clemance and Small, subscription to Australasian, LI Bs, was passed for payment. An account of 153, from Mr Wareing, was referred back for particulars.
Correspondence was also road from Mr T. Cooper. The President laid on the table two new books of members tickets, which were approved of by the Committee. Proposed by Mr Storey, seconded by Mr Elliott, and carried, "That separate books for yearly, half yoarly,and quarterly tickets be supplied by the Secretary to the Librarian,tho Secretary to koep an account of the numbers of such books', and that the Librarian,in his monthly report of new members, add the numbers of th-.-ir tickets as well as their names.
lti-aolred that the engraving ' Arm rlcan Inventors,' be framed and hung up in the reading room. MrEilLtt undertook to see to tho matter.
Mr McKay, in accordMnco with his notice of motion, proposed "That the Librarian be allowed 1Q par cent, on all subscriptions collected for tho Institute from March I2th, 1880."—Mr Storey seconded, and it was carried unanimously.
A requisition, signed by Messrs Storey, Elliott, and Gentleman, was handed to the Secretary, requesting him to cull at an early date a special general meeting of tho Institute, to consider tho advisability of making some'arrangements for tho convenience of smokers ; also the' desirability of building another fireplace.
