General Notices. Regulations for the Licensing and Management of Slaughter - Houses, and inspection thereof, and of Cattle intended for Slaughter in the County of Gcraldme. N Pursuance of the provisions of ‘‘The Slaughter Act, 1877 ” tin Council of the County of Geraldine hereby order as follows, that is to say : Intelipketation. 1. Fees. ,2.. Any person or persons slaughtering, »©£permitting to be slaughtered, cattle for isale, barter, or shipping, shall pay to the of the Council a fee for a license or of a license as follows, viz:—lf ■tribe number slaughtered is not more than two large or ten small cattle per week,the -sum of L2 ; if more than two large or ten „ small cattle per week, the sum of L 5 . Slaughteh - Houses to be kept clean. 3.-Every keeper of a slaughterhouse shall at all times keep the same and the -vpremiscs connected therewith, and the appurtenances thereto belonging, in a clean state, free from offensive effluvia, and in nil respects to the satisfaction of the Inspector appointed, or to be appointed, -•under the said Act; and every such keeper of a slaughterhouse shall so dispose of the blood, offal, drainage, and other refuse matter therefrom, that the same shall not create a nuisance, nor be offensive to persons residing, or being in, or passing through the neighbourhood of such slaughterhouse ; and no keeper of a slaughterhouse shall permit any blood, offal, drainage, or refuse matter ;.to accumulate in or upon or about the same, or on the premises connected therewith, or to flow, fall, or be tin own or put into any river, stream, drain, or watercourse. Every person who shall commit a breach of the above regulations shall, on conviction thereof, be liable to a penalty not exceeding five pounds. Made by the Geraldine County Council, at Temuka, in the County of Geraldine, this 19th day of January, 1880, and confirmed by the ' aforesaid Council on February 19th, 1880. CHARLES G.
