An American paper says :—A young «nd respectable looking couple named Fred and Louisa Kauckman, the sen and •daughter-of quite a respectable farmer ■residing in Lone Grove township, about twenty miles from Cincinnati, boarded a train a few days ago, went to St Louis, ■and were made husband and wife. They remained in the city a day or two, and then turned homeward, getting off the train at B ownstown, a station eight miles from the city, and .for fear of being detected, wandered into the woods near the town, and remained there until found ■and arrested by Cm table Kolson. The man is about 21 years of age, and of good appearance, and the girl is 19 years old and pretty. When asked why he was induced to commit the act, he said : My mster loved me, so we thought the best thing we could do would be to get married, He w s further asked if he did not know it was wrong and against the la-' ■to do so, and also why they hid themselves n the woods, and kept away from their parents. He answered the query by saying: We didn’t know it was wrong, and only hid in the wood s' -for £fear of being discovered by our folks, as they w T ere very much opposed to our marrying. Their parents are very respectable people, and are sadly grieved at the unparalleled act of their children ; they were tried, found guilty, and were 'bound over, the man’s bond being fixed -at 500 dol, and the woman’s at 3co dol., in default of which they were committed to the gaol.
