MEETING AT GERALDINE.

A meeting of County electors was held at Geraldine on Salurd iy last in the Hoad Board Cilice. About 25 persons were present, amongst them being Messrs Postlethwaite, McDonald, Walker,' Hardcastle, A Wilson and others. Mr Postlethwaile was voted (o the chair. The Chairman ream the ad verlisenv'nf calling ilic meeting, and asked Mr Pearpoint, the convenor, if ho.had a resolution to move.

Mr Pearpoint staled that the object in calling tlie meeting was that one of the members had proposed Timaru as tho-place of meeting for the Council. The object of this meeting is to see whether it cannot get the Council to hold itsmectings at Geraldine if they arc to bo removed from To muka. Ho understood their own member t>ml the members fur Tomuka were infavor ■of Geraldine rather than Tiinani, and on that account ho bogged to move : “ That a petition be circulated hero, and in (he Mount Peel Road Board district, calling the attention of Mr Tripp to the desirability of his voting for the meetings of tho Comity Council being held in Geraldine, when the question is brought before the Council.”

Mr Kelman seconded the resolution,and it was canted unanimously. It was then proposed by Mr Kelman, and seconded by Mr Grant—That the following petition be presented to Mr Tripp, the member for Mount Peel :

C. G. Tripp, Ksq., Member of the Geraldine County Council.

Sir, —We, the unlersigncd, electors in the County of Geraldine, having seen by the report of last meeting of the Council a statement that yon intend to vote for the meetings living heid in Timaru instead of Teranka, we beg that you will be good enough to record your vote in favor of the meetings being held in Ger.d line wheii the question is brought be!ore the meet" ing. The motion was carried unanimously, and the petition was then signed by al] that were in the room,'and ordered to bo further signed and forwarded to Mr Tri, p without delay.

A vote of thunks to the chair terminated the proceedings.
