MADAGASCAR.
A correspondent of the Daily New*, writeing on the 13th September* says ' —You are aware that the Malagasy have adopted the Protestant faith, and under the guidance of a Christian Queen and an enlightened Government, aw? rapidly advancing in civilisation, lh6 the Jesuit priests, -who 'are now under the protection of a ‘- special comraissaire ” from Franco—recently arrived • in the country—are resorting • to • what looks very much like force; The commisseire blusters, threatens/gives sundry hints about “ French men-of war,” and magnifies trumpery charges against the v Cov.!i*riment into matters of grave political importance. The Jesuits are laying claim, for religious purposes to » large and valuable peice of ground ip the centre of the capital on doubtful evidence. .
