TEMUKA VOLUNTEER BAND.
About the only sign of vitality in Teinuka nt present are - our volunteers and their band. On Tuesday night we were present at the practice qf the latter, Which •consists'''of nearly 20 members. On that evening it was their intention to have a parade through tho stroots, but owing to wet weather the intention wan adjourned till Thursday next,, when wo can assure our readers a treat is in Bt'ore for them.
It is only two months since Mr George Gapes organised the/ band, most of which .areyoung" lads froWabout to 12 to 14 yenrs of age, and we, must give this gentlemen the greatest of praise for the man nor in which lie has brought these young, sterson during this short period; they are now masters of »r number of tunes, and we understand it is their intention shortly to give a concert in aid of their funds When this comes off we hope that, however slow Tenvuka has been to como forward to support any local institution, they will in tins case be lenient, and go in heartily arid support in a liberal manner so desirab'e an object as this.
