R. M. COURT, TEMUKA.
Thursday, 27th Nov., 1879. Before F. Guinness, Esq., R. M. The Court sat at 10 a,m. LARCENY. James Barnard was charged with the larceny of one bottle of spirituous liquor of the value of 6s from the Caledonian Hotel, Teiuuka, on Wednesday last, the 26th inst. Sergt. Carlyon conducted the prosecution.
Prisoner pleaded guilty. His Worship decided to hear the evidence.
Emily Harris, Sergt. Carlyon and J. W. Bartley, licensee of the Caledonian Hotel, then gave evidence. His Worship, in delivering sentence, said,had the information boon laid against him as an indictable offence he would have been liable to 10 years’ imprisonment ; as it was he would be dealt with summarily. Ho would sentence him to 6 months’ imprisonment with hard labor. The Court thou adjourned.
