Four miners at Cave Creek have been attacked by blacks. Their tent was ransacked. Melbourne, Oct. 17Sccundus and Savanaka are rather-' weaker favorites for the Melbourne Cup. Richmond and Sweetmeat are at 100 to 8. Le Loup is firmer at 100 to 7, and is training very satisfactorily. Nellie is aBtrong favorite ff>r the Derby.
