COMMERCIAL REPORT.

Messrs Weight, Stephenson, and Co. report for the week ending 15th October as follows

Fat Cattle. —153 head yarded, a number quite adequate to the requirements of the trade ; prices realised, however, were a shade -over oar last weeks quotations, we sold 122 head, as follows : On account of the Hew Zealand and Australian Land Company ( Olydevale Estate ), 40 bullocks at from £lO 2s fid to £l3 ; on account of Messrs Murray Roberts, and Co (Glsdbrook Station ), 26 bullocks, art from £ll to £l4 10s, and 8 heifers at from -£7 17s 6d to £9 on account of James Allen, Esq. (Hoper.ill), 10 head, at from £lO Sa 6d to £l2 17s Sd on account of Mr. John J, M’Auley, 12 head bullocks, at from £8 to £l2 15s and on account of other vendors 16 bead, at up to £9 10*. We quote beat beef at from 80s to 32s per 1001 b. Fat Calves—26 penned, and sold at from 20s to 40b. Fat Sheep were in moderate supply to-day, only 1700 being penned, and these sold at about equal to last week’s rates. We sold frorndhe Killeild Estate 421 cross-breds, at from 12s toISt, and 75 merino wethers at 11s. We quote mutton at from 2 {cl to Sd per lb Pigs.—Small supply and good demand* We sold 29 at-from 80s to 62s each, or equal to She per lb. Fat lambs. —A fair supply came to hand, 170 being penned, which were quitted reabily at from 8s 6d to 12s We sold on account of Mr James Gibson 50 at 9s Bd. Store Cattle.—A good demand exists for grown cattle, especially bullocks. During the week, in small lots, we have placed 70 head at from £4 IBs to £5 10s, and fresh young cattle at from £2 to £3. Store Sheep.—We have inquiries for cross bred wethers. This week we havg sold 500 cross-bred ewes and hoggets at a satisfactory pate. Horses. —First class draught mares are inquired for, and for medium draught geldings there is also a fair demand. The number at present offering is very limited. At our sale on Saturday last most of those forward changed' 4 'hands at full values. Privately we have sold, on account of James Anderson, Waikouaiti, his two imported mares Jean and Rosa (both in foae to the imported Clydesdale stallion Si? George Grey), at a satisfactory fig’.ire, the purchaser being James Shand, Esq. of West Taieri. We quote first class draughts at from £45 to £SO; medium £25 to £35 ; good hacks, and light-harness horses £l7 to £25 ; medium £l2 to £ls ; hght and inferior, £3 to £B.
