MR McCASKILL IN EXPLANATION.
To the Editor,
Sik, —As it may to those at a distance, who do not know better, appear that I was guilty of purloining trees from the Public Park, allow me to state that the trees were put i . my garden wit out my kn wledge—possibly by some one who thought the matter of litt.e importance, and who may have thaught they were doing me a good turn. I fee! sure that ali who know me have a different opinion of me than to think that I would, for the matter of a few shillings, be guilty of the act for which I am accused ; but as it may do me damage with those who do not know me, allow me, through your journal, to state that I know nothing whatever of how the trees were placed where they were, and must disclaim all co ncction witii such an act.—l am, &c.,
P. McCaskill.
