After the tea Avas over, the hall was cleared and seats arranged for the concert, 'which commenced about 8 o’clock. Mr Job Brown Avas voted to the chair. The I. O.G.T. Temuka Lodge now numbers between fifty and sixty inembers, and there is a juvenile lodge of Good Templars also connected with it, with Mr Russell as its able superinten-t-indent. The rising generation is our great hope. Prevention is better than cure. The programme, which appeared in our advertising columns, was very creditably gone through. The Timaru visitors, particularly Mr Walcott and Mr Kennedy, added greatly to the evening’s entertainment. About 150 attended the concert. The chairman explained th at the hall had cost £239, part of which was borrowed. The thanks of the meeting were due to Mr J. Haylmrst, sen., who had kindly made them 4 present of the section on which the hall is built, estimated to he worth £4O, but will soon be much more morq Antlttablo. Votes of thanks were carried by acclamation to, Mr Hayhurst, the Ladies, the Timaru Performers, the Local Amateurs, and the Chairman. Thus ended one of the most enjoyable meetings ever held in Temuka.
