MR. THOMSON KENNELS.
Having been pressed by Mr. Boyd Thomson to pay a visit of ins:.-o!km to his kennels, we, on Saturday, a\ .died ourselves of his courteous invitation. After walking about three miles through mud up to our, boot-tops, having taken the wrong ’ arrived at our destination. We were cordially welcomed by Mr. Thomson and his trainer, “ Harry.” Mr. Thomson accompanied us in the inspection, but ve particularly noticed that be end not, as on a quite recent occasion, arm himself with „v loaded whip. “One dog after another Was shown, and remarks made that .ins ' one was looking well, and .ha l u..e mu< i thin eft At last the door oi the kennel containing the object of otw visit was unlocked.” This was Balmoral, tne winner of the Now Zealand Waterloo Cup. He js a niaguiiicont-lnokn'g deg, am. m ’A 1 .; good order, and look* none the -worse .oi the part he took in the Into xracas, the denouement of wind, enmu so unpleasant ly to two of the actors therof. fticnxnond, another of the “chicks, also m first-class 'condition. Several ot tne puns by Balmoral arc laid up with the distemper but “Harry” is certain that he can brim,- them round again, and supported his opinion by very conclusive arguments. Mr Thomson has been singularly unfortunate with his pups this year, having, in one case, only saved one out or a Jitter oi

Mr. Thomson has a goon trainer in st j-larry,” who appears to bo in Ins proper clement’amongst the clogs. “Harry” was very condescending, and cmiglitcned us as t./lbe manner in which he had—to use bin own words—“ dished up one ol the womd-he abductors of bis pc.., Balmoral ; and wanted to give us an illustration of the manner in which he nacl put the “ Mackenzie ”on In's oj poneok He is convinced that his reputation has not suffered by the (false) report tnat uc was unable to master his ioe m thejatc hg.it for Balmoral. Harry avers that, should he fall across the other “gentleman, lie will serve him in the same manner ns he did bis companion. We at last took our. leave, and trudged homewards, having enjoyed a good day s outing.
