A GRIEVANCE.
rWe do not hold ourselves responsible for the opinions expressed by our correspon- ■ dents.] -—o —
TO THE EDITOR OF THE TEMXJKA LEADER. Sir, — If you will kindly allow me space in your columns, I would oraw the attention of our local police to a grievance which every oixe living in the vicinity of Temuka must aware of. 1 allude to the disgraceful practice of our youths shooting up and dewn the river-bed almost every Sabbath, unmolested cither by police or civilian. If I am rightly informed, it is unlawful to shoot on Sunday, and if my memory serves me correctly it is not tab very long ago one Neale was fined at Waimate for the same oflencc. Y* T hy, then, arc our youths allowed to go on desecrating the Sabbath in this abominable way 1 Our police cannot be blind to the fact, for it is of weekly occurrence.
I hope, sir, these lines will have the desired effect, and the offenders brought to account. • I have, etc., A Citizen ok Texiuka.
