TEMUKA SCHOOL V. TIMAIUJ SCHOOL. ; ,;. A' match was played between teams .-from the above school on Saturday, 19th, ; .instant, on. the grounds of the former. The game resulted in im easy victory for the Tomuka boys. The ball was kicked off by Roberts: for Temuka, at 2.30 p.m., and was followed very closely by them, and only a few minutes had elapsed whenRoberts took possession of the ball ami kicked a magnificent goal for Temuka. The ball was then kicked off by Shepherd for Timaru, but was soon forced hack by the energetic play of Wood, Johnston, and Rayner, the former securing a touch-down. Tire try was entrusted to Roberts, who failed to kick a goal, be being rushed by his opponents. Franks then took possession of the ball, and made an excellent run for Temuka, when a touch-down wa’s obtained, nothing resulting, as-time was then called. In t!ie beginning of the second spell,' the "Timaru; boys were strengthened by Cliff, who played pluckily, but unfortn--uately was never backed up when running. The play of the Temuka boys was far superior to that of their opponents. Roberts, by playing excellently for Temuka, obtained another goal by a good drop kick. Time wafi again called. The ball was kicked off by Roberts, and was well followed up by Temuka, but nothing resulted before time was called. In the fourth and last spell Cliff kicked off for Timaru, after which Roberts kicked a goal for Temuka, hut it being disputed on the ground of being thrown . out improperly, it did cot count. Roberts then got possession of the leather and made a grand rush, which resulted in a touch-down and goal. Time was again called. ' Roberts, Franks,-Jlayner. Wood, Johnston, and Austin played: exceptionally ' well for Temuka, as also did Shepherd and Cliff for Timaru. Had the umpire for Timaru acted fairly the Temuka score would no doubt have been greater. As it was they obtained four goals and five - touch-downs to nothing. i
