TELEGRAMS.
NEW PLYMOUTH, July 21. The schooner Arthur Wakefield, feom Lyttcdton to New Plymouth, laden with grain, foundered of Opunake on Saturday evening, at 8 30. The crew escaped in a boat, which floated off the vessel’s deck. They had neither food or water and were only partially clothed. Being ofraid of the natives, they pulled to New Plymouth and arrived here, after twenty-four hours of privation and toil on a stormy sea at 8.30 last night. The boat was upset in the surf, but all hands are saved. WELLINGTON, J'ffy 21.
The Hinemoa had very heavy weather from Taranaki. Her bridge and aft steering geer were carried away, and after much difficulty, she anchored in Ohau •13ay, where she repair-p'dlfer steering geer, which was completely'v ! smashed. She brought eighteen inaori prisoners, fifteen from Taranaki and three from Opnnake.
It is feared that the Italian crew in the fishing boat which left the pilot station on Thursday is lost.
