Accident.—On Saturday evening last Mrs Sheen met with a rather serious accident •while crossing the Opihi in a buggy while on her way to Temuka from Timaru. Mrs Sheen got safely over the first branch of the river, bub on her attempting to cross the other stream, the trap capsized, throwing the occupant heavily out, and falling upon her ankleA number of persons from Spillane's Hotel went to her assistance, and she was taken home and attended to by Dr Hayes, who discovered that she was much bruised, but that no bones were broken. The poor animal got impaled on the shaft of the buggy, which was forced about two feet into the poor brute's body. The horse was found dead a short distance away from the bridge. The Mammoth Minstbels.—On Thursday evening (to-morrow) this celebrated troupe will make their appearance at the Volunteer Hall, for one night only. We are assured by many who have witnessed this troupe in Timaru that their performances are, to say the least, really Al in minstrelsy. The funny business of Messrs Bent and Brown, the corner men, caunot fail to keep the audience in roars of laughter, while the singing of Messrs Amery, Braham, and Hawkins will be something worth hearing. The dancing, too, will be excellent. There is no one part of the performance, in fact* that will not bo worth witnessing.
