DIPHTHERIA.
(to the editor of the temuka leader.) Sir, —You would oblige by inserting this letter in your to-morrow's issue, if possible, in order to draw the attention of this and the surrounding districts to the necessity (at this season, more parti cularty) of prompt action ou the part of parents in securing at once professional attendance in the case of any child showing symptoms of throat disease. I 'do this on account of the evidence given at an inquest I yesterday held at Winchester on the body of a boy three years old, son of John J. Griffin, a resident there, which evidence went to show that the child (owing to no previous case of diphtheria having occurred in that locality) was treated by parents and neighbors as only suffering from a severe cold ; and it was only by the post mortem examination that the true nature of the disease transpired.-—I am, etc., A. LeG. Campbell, Coroner. Temuka, April 15, 1879.
